Something to be said

FAITH AND FILM. There may be something to be said about Bunuel’s so-called masterpiece from a certain point of view. The whole capitalist thing in this world is not full proof and is prone to outbursts and instances of greed and human depravation as well as recessions.

There is something about money that brings out the servant to it, a slave to the dollar.

It’s about what we do with the money that’s around. There are some that would distribute the money socially and tax heavily. But I want to look at the heart of the matter, the rich people in Bunuel’s film: No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money. Matthew 6:24. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs. 1 Timothy 6:10. So, there is something to be said to the rich people in Bunuel’s film and for the rich generally. Don’t be concerned too much about money but about what truly matters in life.
